I can see the benefit of delicious and particularly of library thing. However i am getting confused and frustrated by all the email addresses and account names and passwords...and not enough time to really look into the programs and familiarise myself with them. I can see that they are great but the time constraints are too much. I doubt that I will finish the course.

I to add the link to my delicious account because I couldn't follow any more instructions!!! Information overload!!!!

Interesting idea to see videos of songs about a library! Some of them were quite amusing. Could they be used to attract or scare off patrons?

Wikis

Wikis look great but it seems that most of them are not really public ie you have to join a group. Makes sense I suppose if you have "vandals" who write inappropriate and false information.
I can see it would be very useful tool for a large library to keep information going around but perhaps not as useful for a small library with only one or two staff.

Just discovering RSS!!

What a great tool! I know I'm way behind but better late than not at all. I think this will be a very useful tool and one which could save lots of time. If there are lots of bloglines though I can imagine you could spend a lot of that saved time reading all the info, particularly if you wouldn't have done lots of searching before! Still, I think it will be great.

wk 3 flickr photo

Staying cool on a hot day in the early part of last century must have been difficult. At a time when the victorian era required a woman to be swathed in layers and lengths, one can understand the smiles on these faces.
I love this photo. Usually family photos were sombre and formal but this captures the delight of play...obviously spur of the moment.
However, getting this far with wk 3 has been a nightmare. I have imported this directly from my own home file, not from flickr file cos I couldn't understand how to go about it. Instructions were vague and ended up having to ring elsewhere for help!! I still don't know how to go about importing a flickr file. Iwas so looking forward to using the program but this has put me off somewhat!!

To be is to learn

Lifelong learning... a lifelong of learning...a long life of learning! It's a natural process whether we recognise it or not. I don't think you can exist and not learn. To live with the joy of knowing that every new day is an opportunity to embrace wisdom and experience, your own or others, is a gift. The knowledge of the aged, the skill of experience and the enthusiasm and energy of youth, when married together, become the driving force of community life. That's why communities need all ages and all kinds. My learning is limited if I am only interested in accommodating those who think, feel and talk like me. So I want to learn, and sift the knowledge, holding on to that which makes me a better person, and allow the breath of wisdom to blow the rest away.
